Your Online LUG

There are two Linux user groups in Fort Wayne Indiana. This one was founded by Joe Rice about ten years ago when he was in high school. He is now a software engineer. The other LUG is well established and I am a member of that group and you can be too. They can be reached at: http://www.fortwaynelug.org

Back to this LUG. I would like to keep this LUG going to support beginning users. I am a novice and have had many challenges with computers, networks and programing. I have found some resources and learned a few things I am willing to share. Participation in this LUG isn't limited by your location or any meeting attendance. I'll try to build a presence that will facilitate and accomadate all users.

Your participation is encouraged use my e-mail below to volunteer with building or maintaining the site or to submit: media, material, comments, questions, links, you name it!

My personal challenges right now using Linux are IP addressing and the network. I have a DELL server connectewd to a Comcast (cable) gateway running Linux Ubuntu 8.10  Server. I'm learning about the  IP addressing from; registrar>comcast DNS>gateway appliance>DELL 605T box>Ubuntu 8.10>Apache2. Some people have told me IP addressing is complicated and I agree. I would be glad to have an e-mail conversation about what I'm doing with Linux or to hear about what your doing or having problems with. I know everything isn't going to work right away and I don't mind doing the research and experimenting or testing new procedures. The other LUG in Fort Wayne Indiana, we'll call them LUG1, sends e-mail from time to time about meetings and general information. The person sending the e-mail closes the correspondence referencing Rocky and Bullwinkle, "This time for sure, Rocky!" I get a kick out of that. Try and try again.

Thanks,

Joe F.
